Soup is the Stock of Young Writers

What can we do together, right now, with words?

We value your voice. This space invites your writing and your ideas about how words can help build connection and community.

How it works

Each prompt invites you to write from memory, imagination, observation, or feeling. You can respond in your own time and in your own way.

You may choose to:

  • write and save your work privately, or
  • submit your writing to be shared publicly on this site.

There is no requirement to share. Writing here is meant to support curiosity, confidence, and care.

What would help your writing most right now?

Do you want this writing to be shared publicly on the site? (Yes / No.)

Thank you for writing here.

Your words matter. You’re welcome to return anytime to write again, revise your work, or read what others have shared.

Word Soup is a shared writing space for young people, families, educators, and communities. It is a place to draft stories, explore language, and experiment with expression (alone or alongside others).

This space is intentionally simple. It will grow over time, but for now it exists to support writing as a practice, not a performance.

Care & Permission Statement
By submitting writing to be shared publicly, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or guardian. Submitted writing may be lightly reviewed before being posted to ensure this space remains respectful and safe.

Brain break activity

Welcome to your WORD!SOUP brain break. In this quick game, you’ll guess herbs, fruits, and vegetables from A to Z before the timer runs out (faster answers earn a higher score!). Type as quickly as you can, and don’t worry if you miss a letter or two. The goal is to play with plant words, spark curiosity, and maybe discover new ingredients to inspire your writing above.

This game is here as a short brain break.

It is an easy way to play with words, learn new plant names, and stay connected to food and land through language.
